1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop – Supercharged 350ci V8, TH350 Auto, Satin Black, Custom Interior, Audio & Gauges
This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop has undergone a dramatic transformation blending classic Tri-Five style with street machine aggression. Acquired by the current owner in 2020, the car received substantial upgrades inside and out—including a supercharged 350ci V8, a custom interior with modern seating and audio, and a sleek satin black finish completed in 2023.
At the heart of the build is a roots-style supercharger from The Blower Shop paired with a Demon four-barrel carburetor, providing serious horsepower and a commanding presence. The powerplant is backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end, with supporting components such as an MSD ignition control module, aluminum radiator with electric fans, and a dual exhaust system with block-hugger headers.
Inside, the car features Ikon G-Rocker front bucket seats, a center console with a B&M floor shifter, Classic Instruments gauges, and a Pioneer audio system paired with Skar Audio amplification and subwoofer. This show-and-go custom build is now being offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Exterior – Satin Black with Classic Chrome Details
Originally finished in Shoreline Beige and Gypsy Red, this Bel Air underwent a full respray in satin black in 2023, giving it a sleek, stealthy, hot rod look. Classic touches remain, including:
-
Factory-style chrome bumpers with guards
-
Polished stainless trim and moldings
-
Hood ornament and bright badging
-
Smoothed body lines and two-door hardtop profile
The stance is aggressive, complemented by 15″ polished American Racing wheels wrapped in Cooper Cobra white-letter radial tires (245/60). The car retains its iconic Tri-Five silhouette while embracing a more modern and muscular aesthetic.
Interior – Modern Comfort Meets Classic Flair
The cabin has been reimagined with a mix of modern comfort and retro cues. Ikon G-Rocker bucket seats and a rear bench are trimmed in black vinyl, while a Classic Consoles center console provides cup holders and a tidy space for the B&M shifter.
Additional interior details include:
-
Color-matched black interior trim
-
Contrasting turquoise front shoulder belts
-
Custom Pioneer stereo head unit with kick-panel speakers
-
Skar Audio amplifier and subwoofer mounted in the trunk
-
Grant 3-spoke steering wheel
-
Full Classic Instruments gauge cluster (noted to be inaccurate) with 140-mph speedometer, tach, oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temp
The interior is both purposeful and driver-focused, with a sporty layout and thoughtful upgrades throughout.
Powertrain – Supercharged 350ci V8 with Serious Street Cred
Installed in 2021, the 350ci small-block V8 forms the backbone of the build and has been enhanced with a roots-style supercharger from The Blower Shop. It’s topped with a Demon 750-cfm four-barrel carburetor, delivering massive throttle response and a deep, supercharged growl through the custom exhaust.
Engine highlights include:
-
High-rise intake manifold with supercharger setup
-
MSD Ignition Control Module with boost control
-
Aluminum radiator with twin electric fans
-
Sanderson block-hugger headers
-
Dual exhaust system
-
Malodon-style deep sump oil pan (if confirmed)
Paired with a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, the drivetrain sends power to the rear wheels through a 10-bolt rear differential, also installed in 2021. It offers a classic muscle car feel with modern drivability.
Chassis, Suspension & Braking
Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes, with drum brakes at the rear. The American Racing wheels add a vintage racing touch, and the car’s ride height and suspension provide a confident, planted look.
Underbody photos or documentation may reveal further suspension modifications or upgrades made to support the increased performance.
